Express yourself through improvisational painting and collage
Home is a loaded concept. It can hold for each individual the spectrum of emotions - from joy, play and safety to grief, loneliness and even rage. It can feel entirely different for two people from the same country, the same town, even the same family. Home is deeply personal. For all of these reasons it makes such a wonderful theme for creative work and visual abstraction.
This workshop can be formatted to fit the needs of your event, gathering or organization. I provide all of the supplies. Participants are encouraged to bring scraps of paper from home - letters, documents, lists, receipts (original or copies) to use as prompts and elements in their work. I will lead participants through my creative process layering paper and paint to create a visual expression of home, in its multitude of meanings.
At the end of the workshop, I like to leave time for participants to share their work with the group. This exercise in vulnerability often leads to greater trust and camaraderie among group members.
